The Covid-19 crisis has actioned a partnership between two of South Africa's foremost organisations to leverage their skills and resources to help ste.
Such a prestigious contract reinforces Averda’s position in the region as a global provider of environmental services.
“We are pleased to have been selected as a waste management provider in one of Africa’s most important cultural and economic centres, and we look forward to showcasing our innovative solutions and implementing the global best practices that have made Averda a market leader across the region,” said Malek Sukkar, CEO of Averda.
Averda will be responsible for delivering waste management services for nearly 2 million people in the city and “This program will allow us to utilise our state of the art processes and technologies, and to launch our engaging consumer outreach programme” said Sukkar.
Morocco is a strategic long-term location for Averda and Sukkar concluded “We will be working closely with all the city stakeholders to make Casablanca a showcase for Africa”.
In addition to the newly signed Casablanca contract, Averda in Morocco also services the provinces of Nador and Berkane, offering collection and waste management services, while also operating a sanitary landfill for the disposal of municipal solid waste. In early 2013, the company was awarded the contract by the capital city of Rabat to provide its extensive range of sustainable environmental services, from street cleaning through to waste collection, treatment, disposal and recycling.
