Averda, the leading end-to-end waste management, treatment and recycling company in emerging markets, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rabih Jawad as Chief Operating Officer (“COO”).
Rabih took up the role in December 2021, leading Averda’s global operations and several key support functions, including procurement.
Rabih originally joined Averda in 2002 as a graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Beirut. In the two decades since, he has successfully worked his way up the company, taking on a series of increasingly senior roles across Averda’s countries of operation. These include stints as Industrial Maintenance Manager, Project Director and Managing Director. Just prior to being appointed COO, Rabih was Vice President of Operations, where he led the wholesale digitisation of Averda’s worldwide operations.
With his 20 years’ experience at Averda, Rabih brings vast, hands-on company and wider industry expertise to the role, backed up by academic achievements including a Project Management Institute qualification in 2013.
Rabih Jawad commented: “I am delighted to have taken on this new and dynamic role at such an exciting time for Averda, as it positions itself to be the leading provider of sustainable waste management solutions in emerging markets. Having worked within the company throughout my entire career, I am proud to have reached the position I am in today and I very much look forward to continuing to play my part on the journey.”
Malek Sukkar, CEO, said: “I am thrilled to have Rabih coming into the role of COO, having worked at Averda for many years. It has been wonderful to see his development across the business over the years and I have no doubt his first-hand knowledge of Averda, its people and operations will be instrumental to our future success as we continue to grow and develop our service offerings.”
