Before Averda started working in the city of Casablanca, there had been an ongoing waste management problem during the Adha period, which included haphazard waste dumping, waste accumulation and a general lack of awareness of how to dispose of garbage during busier times.
We decided to tackle the problem preemptively – which meant clearing all and any waste on day one of Adha so that the holiday period could begin with clean streets, parks and neighbourhoods.
Throughout the Adha holidays, Averda worked 24 hours a day without breaks. We hired additional tippers and loading equipment; and we rewarded transfer points to help speed up collection. Thank-you letters were received from Governors and residents from across the city, and the holiday unfolded without hazardous waste, garbage accumulation or dirty streets.
