The one year contract, which is renewable annually, will see the company sweep and clean the streets as well as collecting the waste from residential homes in this luxurious neighbourhood which is home to many embassies and VIP compounds.
The diplomatic quarter, formally known as Hay Al Safarat but often referred to as the DQ, is well known as one of the most attractive parts of the Saudi capital, containing many parks and other green spaces.
Cleaning and waste collection for this area has until now been provided direct by the municipal authorities together with the rest of Riyadh. This is the first time services for the area have been contracted out independently, under the mandate of the new Diplomatic Quarter General Authority. Averda was selected due to the high standard of work carried out by the company elsewhere in the Kingdom.
Averda’s teams started work in the diplomatic quarter last week, bringing plenty of manpower as well as a mechanical sweeper to keep the neighbourhood spotless.
Wissam Zantout, Regional Managing Director for Averda, based in Riyadh, explains: “We are delighted to be trusted with this prestigious contract and look forward to maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of this lovely neighbourhood.”
