Part of a Ramadan sustainability campaign launched by Dubai Municipality in the run up to Ramadan, the waste reduction contest saw approximately 900 households competing for the highly coveted prizes.
The contest development followed Dubai’s the municipality launch of a campaign for “sustainable homes through smart waste management” which coincided with this year’s Ramadan. The goal of the campaign was that of raising the public’s awareness on the need to reduce waste and recycle and reuse any household generated materials as much as possible.
Mr. Oussama Natour, Averda’s United Arab Emirates Managing Director said: “We took great pride and honour to partner Dubai Municipality for this incredibly important educational campaign. We have sponsored the entire campaign as we are firm believers in the dramatic change an appropriate public perception with regard to waste and its multitude of uses can make. The main aim of the contest was that of minimising the waste the households generate, this being clearly tracked and monitored by means of an electronic system for each participating unit. The competition featured many activities and events, including field visits and tips on reducing all kinds of household waste.”
