Even waste that cannot be composted or recycled can still have value. Averda can process many types of residual waste into forms of fuel suitable for use in industrial and manufacturing processes.

Refused-derived fuels, or RDFs, can be developed from the waste left over after sorting of recoverable organic and recyclable items from municipal or general waste. This is then turned into a solid fuel which is easy to transport and can be used in place of traditional solid fuels like coal. It is particularly suitable for use in cement kilns.

In South Africa, Averda has invested in a state-of-the-art facility that can also turn hard-to-treat hazardous liquids and sludges into a liquid fuel. This liquid fuel is also suitable for cement manufacture as well as other heavy industrial use.
