Turning used cooking oil into biofuel

    Business lines| Energy and disposal

Averda collects used cooking oil from households and restaurants which is then refined and transformed via a chemical reaction process using methanol and a catalyst into biodiesel. This biodiesel can then be used in place of tradition diesel in heating and to fuel transport.

There are several benefits from using biodiesel; the fuel produces fewer emissions of carbon dioxide and other pollutants reducing damage for the environment, it improves the lifetime of motorised equipment and finally it prevents used cooking oils from being disposed of into drainage systems which, over time, can cause blockages.

Many companies are increasing their use of biodiesel in their fleet management as a way of improving their corporate sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint.
